Aretha
Franklin - Who's Zoomin Who
Perhaps
the greatest singer of our generation. I picked this CD because I
am always knocked out by her Another Night, but could have easily picked
out others.

Dusty
Springfield - Dusty in Memphis
It is very
hard to write about Dusty now. Her recent death was a great loss
for all of us. What a voice, sexy, sultry. This CD is a classic.
So many good cuts. My personal favorites are I Dont want to Hear
it Anymore , Son of a Preacher Man, Breakfast in Bed, No Easy Way Down.......oh
...well......love em all. Her collections are wonderful, but this is truly
a classic.

Emmy
Lou Harris - Wrecking Ball
Emmy Lou
has been around for a long time and has maintained an incredible musical
integrity. Whether listening to her harmonies from the sixties or
her original folk solo albums, her duets with Graham Parsons, or her wonderful
country albums, you are in for a treat. I love Emmy Lou for branching out
in this venture and I love all the songs. See what u think.

Karla
Bonoff - New World
The album
that makes my lover cry. Songs filled with emotion. Many have
been recorded by others, but surprising that her versions havent become
hits. How Long, Goodbye My Friend, Tell Me Why, and many more. Very
consistently good collection of songs and a surprisingly strong voice.

Laura
Nyro - Eli and the Thirteenth Confession
One of the
great sixties singer song writers Her songs were hits by others,
but never done as well as she does them. Listen to non hits such as Emily
or Lonely Women and discover a wonderful voice full of emotion and soul.
I hope you will fall in love with her as I did. Unfortunately her
untimely death has robbed us of any new material. Enjoy what we have!

Linda
Ronstadt - Heart Like a Wheel
A classic
album by a wonderful singer. This CD includes the hits You're No
Good and When Will I be Loved. But some of my favorites include Faithless
Love, Dark End of the Street, Willing, and You Can Close Your Eyes. To
me, the highlight is the title song - Heart Like a Wheel written
by Anna McGarrigle. With lyrics like .....Its only love that can
wreck a human being and turn him inside out.......love it. Also,
listen for some wonderful background singers - Maria Muldaur, Cissy Houston
and Emmy Lou Harris among them.

Nancy
Wilson - With My Lover Beside Me
Well, between
Randy and Nancy it is hard for me to pick my favorite singer. So I wont.
Love them both. I have about 10 of Nancy's CD's and I love them all,
but I particularly love these songs. Her voice is perfect for these
songs. With My Lover Beside Me and When October Goes are particular favorites.

Randy
Crawford - Secret Combination
Randy, Randy,
Randy. I just love this voice. It was hard to decide between this
and her current CD.Trade Winds is my lover's favorite. You Bring the Sun
Out, You Might Need Somebody, Thats How Heartaches are Made are just fabulous.
Definitely would want Randy with me on a desert island. If you enjoy her
hit Street Life at all....try more and you will be hooked.

Tina
Turner - Private Dancer
I
have always loved Tina. So I was so happy when this "comeback" CD
was a big hit. Everyone knows Whats Love Got to Do With It, Private
Dancer, Love Will Keep Us Together. Every cut is wonderful.
You should own this CD.

Betty
Buckley - The London Concert
Betty
is my favorite current Broadway performer. Anyone who can shine in
a disaster like Carrie is a gem. This CD has a wonderful mix of songs.
However, the main reason I picked this was for the song Over You.......a
terrific song..... Any fool can see that love is blind....I hope that isnt
pity in your eyes.....One more cuppa coffee then I'll go....mmmmm.....have
to love those lyrics and the delivery. Other favorites include Just
One Look, Marry Me a Little, Rose's Turn and Unchanined Melody. A
must have CD!!! |
